Congratulations to Cathy Wheeler, Bethel teacher at Challenger. Cathy, a B.E.S.T. board member since 2001, has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.

Cathy is a cheerleader for scholarships and shows it with her personal efforts. Cathy has crocheted 411 afghans in the last six years. She sells them for $50 and all the money goes to the Friends of Challenger Scholarship Fund.

Cathy has been teaching for 14 years and loves working on the scholarship project. “Scholarships give students the extra push they need sometimes. When they get a scholarship they say ‘Yes, I can do this!’ I’ve seen scholarships guide them into post-secondary education when they had no plans before receiving the scholarship. It works!
