Patrick Dooley of Silver Creek
Retirement and Assisted Living Community handed a check for $250

Memorial gifts honoring
friends and loved ones can be made to the Bethel Educational Scholarship
Team.
Through these gifts one can
continue to impact the lives of young people in a positive way. Each year,
B.E.S.T. gives an increasing number of scholarships to assist students who
desire to continue their education beyond high school.
When a gift is received, a
letter is sent to the family of the person honored, letting them know
their loved one has been memorialized in this way. Memorial donations can
be made for any amount.
A named scholarship, i.e.,
"The William Johnson Memorial Scholarship" can be given if total
gifts exceed $200. If additional gifts are received, more or larger
scholarships can be awarded depending upon the wishes of the family.
A perpetual endowment can be
established that awards a named scholarship. A scholarship will be awarded
every year if total gifts
exceed $20,000. For gifts of $10,000, a scholarship will be awarded every
other year. Families are always given the opportunity to present
memorial scholarships at special award banquets held at district high
schools each year.

Payroll Deduction: B.E.S.T.
succeeds largely because of the tremendous generosity of Bethel employees.
District staff members support B.E.S.T. through the "Day's Pay for a
Lifetime of Opportunity" program. The Day's Pay program enables
employees to contribute one day's pay per year to student scholarships
through convenient payroll deductions. Since its founding, hundreds of
district employees have supported the dreams of local students by
participating in this program.
United Way:
Others can
participate in a program similar to the successful "Day's Pay"
program for Bethel staff members. Supporters can now contribute through
United Way Donor Voice. Ask your employer about the program.
Graham Patchers Quilt
Raffle: The Graham Patchers have donated a quilt for a
raffle to benefit B.E.S.T. for the past four years. This year's quilt will
be raffled off on June 13th. Tickets are $1 each and are available at
local businesses, primarily Columbia Bank, Key Bank and Curves. Any
business who would like to display the quilt and/or sell tickets is
invited to contact B.E.S.T. B.E.S.T. board members will be selling tickets
at district musical events at the high schools and PLU. Several members of
this club are Bethel graduates and several more have children who
graduated from the district. Each year about $1500 is raised from the
quilt raffle, which funds three scholarships.
Help
Earn Money for BEST, and Maybe $20 for You! Unitrin, $9 billion
company, is a new auto insurance carrier in the Northwest. To gain new
customers, they will give BEST $10 for every person calling or going to
their web site for a quote.
Here is how to do it.
Have the declaration page that came with your last auto insurance renewal
and either visit www.unitrin-naim.com
or call 1-800-273-1949. When they ask for a Savings Number, give them N-19-14579.
Just for allowing them to give
you a free, no obligation quote, BEST will receive $10. If they
cannot beat your current rates, you will receive a check for $20. You
could even forward that check to BEST when you receive it! The process
takes less than five minutes. What a great way to earn more scholarship
money for BEST!
Graham Business Association
Auction: The B.E.S.T. auction is held every year
for the past seven years by the Graham Business Association the third
Wednesday of December. The 2005 auction brought in $5,365.
Get Involved: B.E.S.T.
is constantly seeking volunteers for its various projects. People are
always needed to sponsor scholarships, solicit contributions, work on
various committees and events and to assist students in seeking other
financial aid opportunities
